About Revise Scale
How it works

From application
to first cheque.

Four steps, and you decide at every one of them. Revise makes introductions and shares what we know; each investment is your own decision.

Step 1

Apply in three minutes

Tell us about the companies you built or ran, or the startups you invested in, and how you like to invest.

Step 2

We verify, then talk

A partner checks the experience you list, usually within a week, and sets up a short call if it is a fit.

Step 3

Join as a founding member

The first 30 angels who meet the founding-member terms join free for life.

Step 4

Meet founders, mentor, invest

See curated founders, come to demo days, mentor where you can help and invest when you are convinced.

The market

Angel investing
in Africa, today.

Small cheques, growing networks and a lot of room to grow. Figures from the ABAN and Briter Angel Investment Survey, published in April 2026.

African angels
in numbers

5,000+individual angels in more
than 75 networks
90%+of individual angels invest
under 25,000 USD per deal
80%of angel deals happen in Nigeria,
Egypt, Kenya and South Africa

Sources: ABAN and Briter, 2026, Ecofin Agency. African tech startups raised 4.1 billion USD in 2025 (Partech); angel money is a small, early part of it.

What holds angels back

And what
we do about it.

In 2025, 29% of African angels paused or reduced their investing and 41% kept going with caution. The reasons are practical, and so are the fixes (Techpoint Africa).

Thin deal flow

Angels cite weak deal flow and the cost of finding good companies. Revise Angels members see founders who are already in a programme, screened by operators and ready to talk.

  • Curated introductions
  • Founders who opted in
Not enough information to trust

The Lagos Angel Network calls much of the “funding gap” an information and trust gap (BusinessDay). Mentoring and demo days let you know founders and their numbers before a round opens.

Small cheques on their own

More than 90% of individual angels invest under 25,000 USD per deal. Syndicates pool cheques, and matching funds such as Catalytic Africa add money alongside angel rounds.

  • Co-invest with other members
  • Alongside Revise Angels
Few exits

No angel exits were disclosed in 2025 (Launch Base Africa). There is no quick fix: back companies with real revenue, expect long holds and plan for follow-on rounds.

Learning the craft

Structured training helps. Kenya’s Viktoria Ventures runs the African Angel Academy, which has trained 797 investors from 38 countries (Citizen Digital).

Founding-member terms

Free for life,
for angels who invest.

We want members who back founders with money and time, not a long list of names. These terms keep the network active.

Experience

Verifiable track record

You founded a company that reached revenue or raised capital, held a senior operating role in a scaling company, or invested in at least one startup. We check LinkedIn and one reference or document.

Tickets

At least 5,000 USD per company

You intend to invest at least 5,000 USD per company, directly or through a syndicate, and to make at least one investment through Revise in your first 12 months.

Activity

Stay active, stay free

Free for life while you make at least one investment through Revise every 12 months, or two in any 24, and join at least two demo days a year.

Mentoring

Recommended, not required

Mentoring at least one founder a year is optional. It is how most members find their best deals.

Conduct

Confidential and conflict-free

Keep what founders share confidential, declare conflicts of interest and do not sell paid services to founders through the network.

Decisions

Your money, your call

Revise makes introductions and shares what we know. We do not give investment advice or offer securities. You confirm you meet the investor rules where you live.

Revise Angels is still being set up, so these terms may change before the first members join. If they do, we tell you before you commit to anything.

Country guides

Angel investing,
market by market.

Each guide covers the networks with verified 2026 activity, the funding picture, tax and rules, and how founders should pitch. Egypt leads Africa in syndicated angel investing and Jozi Angels is South Africa’s most visible syndicate (Launch Base Africa); those guides are next.

Kenya

Most funding in Africa, few angel deals

Kenya led Africa in 2025 funding, yet disclosed angel deals are rare. NaiBAN, Viktoria Ventures, tax rules and how to pitch.

Nigeria

Busy, fragmented and changing

The most early-stage startups in Africa and mostly informal angels. The Lagos Angel Network and the 2026 capital gains rules.
